About

Get to know the about the project as a whole.

Fate-Touched is a collaboratively told story which takes place 300 years after the events of God-Touched, in the world that the characters helped shape and featuring entirely new characters. It's told by multiple people in the medium of a narrative-focused play-by-post role-play on Discord.

In short (and in non-pretentious terms), Fate-Touched is a tabletop RPG played by a group of geeks and nerds.

What Can I Expect?

Ten parts myth, ten parts magic, seven parts epic adventure, and seven parts quiet moments, seasoned generously with mature themes and touchy topics.

Like most speculative fiction, you'll find a lot of playing around with cultural norms like bigotry and systematic oppression, gender, sexuality, and then some. On top of that, some of these characters have gone through some terrible experiences and suffer from trauma or mental health problems! Combine that with a healthy dose of cussing and a jigger of dirty humor and you get a recipe that's really meant for mature audiences.

Above all, though, as storytellers we try our hardest treat every topic we tackle with careful consideration and respect. We also try our hardest to maintain a balance of an optimistic outlook, a good sense of humor, and emotional authenticity.

Who's Telling the Story?

Nut Meg
Game Master

An obsessive storyteller with way too much time to spare.

Elmenora
Slavina's Player

Wading into hazardous waste by day and arting furiously by night is the name of her game. Well, that and "Fate-Touched".

Mellie
Daina's Player

An artist and geek extraordinaire. You can most often find her in the Geek & Sundry chat arting her heart out. (Harting?)

Screwball
Aaren's Player

A mysterious figure who appears online just in time to play Fate-Touched then disappears again in a cloud of mist.

Tell Me More, Tell Me More

Read the answers to some questions asked by a very inquisitive strawman!

Do I have to read God-Touched in order to understand what's going on?

Nope! Just treat this like another post-apocalyptic, pre-industrial fantasy tale based on real-world myths and featuring some real-world elements that have stood the test of time. Of course, your understanding will be a lot richer if you read God-Touched, but that's entirely up to you.

What RPG system does Fate-Touched use?

For Fate-Touched we took the Scion system, stripped it bare, and rebuilt from the ground up to meet our personal needs and playstyles. You can read more about it on the rules page (which is coming soon!).

Can I use this system?

Sure! Use it, modify it, do whatever you want with it! (Just don't call it late for dinner.)

Why Bakersfield?

It started as an inside joke and then got completely out of hand. None of us have any connection to that particular city. I can assure you that this is by no means an even the slightest bit accurate depiction of Bakersfield.

Are y'all pagans?

Nope.

Can I use this as an academically rigorous source for mythology?

Well... there's no one stopping you, but it wouldn't work out so well. At all. We try to do our research, with varying degress of success, but then we extrapolate from there to figure out how it all fits in this 100% fantasy world.

Okay, I Feel Informed Now!

Great! From here you can proceed in a couple of ways...
