On the road
5 Brujames, 333
Daina
The cart is warm and dry, Daina has flopped onto her bed and is laying with her head at the foot of it so she can see the snuggle pile that was used by most of the others. There was another bed in the room but clearly they were an acquired taste.
That was neither here nor there though as she waits for Aaren and Slavina to join her. She'd waited for everyone else to get busy before asking them to come meet her for a talk about the departure of Aurika and what would happen to her when she went home. She reaches down and rests her hand on the floor of the cart, asking it to dim the lights and release a calming soft scent that's a blend but has definate hints of lavender.
Daina was all about setting up a chill place for them to chat and figure this out. She hmms and rolls off the bed to find a drink, she's rummaging in one of the grown in compartments around the time the first of them arrives.
Aaren
Aaren swarms in, swirling off her outer poncho. "It's so misty out there," She sings, to the tune of the fog, "that my coat is raining." She hangs it up on the rack and it quickly proves her point, dripping into the plant beds that rest below the coat rack for exactly this.
"Ooh, can you make tea?" Aaren asks, when she sees Daina rummaging around. Aaren is very excited.
Slavina
Slavina comes back inside shortly after Aaren. She hangs her dripping cloak on the thorn-rack and sets her boots on the boot shelf before taking up her usual spot in the corner. "Jansco and Kelly can't make it. They're being swarmed." Kelly is quite the hero after all, and is being relentlessly celebrated.
Daina
Daina looks up with a smile, hearing the tone of Aaren's voice. Daina smiles a little and watches the cart drink up the water as it drips off the coat, the top of it getting dry from where it hangs as well. "Sure I can, do I look like a goat?" she hmms "nope.. I need to work on my Bagulya isms" she murmurs before brightening again as she sets about making tea and asking with a slight inquiring tune hummed towards Slavina if she'd like tea as well. "Oh we... I think we can figure this out between the three of us anyway" she smiles. "They can make suggestions when they get a chance" she put the water on and got out the cups. "So... Aurika is doing well right? Like going home soon sort of well?" she double checks with Aaren just to be safe.
Aaren
Aaren nods, humming the bird-song to herself. "Her remaining wounds aren't ones I can fix." She takes off her boots and plops them next to Slavina's.
"Oooh," Aaren sings, "A tea-goat! Ha!" She smiles. "That would be brilliant."
Slavina
"No tea, thanks, I've still got mine." Slavina raises her mug a little to indicate it. It's not tea tea, rather an infusion of the no-high-weed Daina made, since Slavina prefers not to smoke unless necessary. She arranges her skirts and takes a sip of not-tea.
Daina
Daina snorts softly at the idea of a tea-goat "we -could- do it.. but should we?" she says with a chuckle before nodding her understanding to Slavina and starting up tea for at least three, knowing someone would drink the extra at some point.
She pauses a moment before offering. "I've got an idea for Aurika's future... but I want to see what you guys think before I say anything to her.." she waits for their responses.
Aaren
Aaren blinks in surpise, and then laughs at Daina's response. "Noo." She sings, to the song of Logan's half-teasing whine. Then she sits down across from Daina. She sings her listening song.
Slavina
Slavina watches Daina, waiting for the idea to sprout.
Daina
Iseewhatyoudidthere
Daina has a seat on the bed as the tea steeps. "so.. I think we all know just going home and taking up her life isn't exactly an option... " she continues on to explain the idea she's had about sending Auirka and her family to Pasar Morado, to start anew perhaps, and maybe to take over the Swan Maiden house as a trial. She mentions making a self driving cart to get them to the town and such like.
Aaren
Aaren frowns, singing her low, thoughtful tune. "Well, lets see what Vir says. It sounds fine to me, although I'd like to get a look at who ever is coming with her first—who knows what they're carying. If possible, obviously."
Slavina
Slavina sips at her drink, leaning back against the cart's wall. She thinks it over for a few minutes, staring at her thumbs while she ponders. "They'll need a guide. But we can find one in the next town, probably."
Daina
Daina smiles a little to Aaren "I knew you'd be all over the details" she says half teasing and half thankful. She nods her head. "Yeah I can send a note through Frankie once we hammer out a plan in full" she goes to pour the hot tea and brings Aaren a cup before getting her own and flopping gracefully onto the pillow pile. "Hmm think they gotta have a guide? I thought I'd teach the cart to get there.. somehow.. but a guide does sound easier" she admits with a grin. "So I figured .. maybe it'll be a perfect fit... or maybe just a stop on the way but at least it will get them out of immediate danger.
Aaren
Aaren sings, "Guide for sure. You can still teach the cart where to go, they can just sit on it and fix things if it gets lost or if something goes wrong." Then she smiles. "And I agree, at least it will get them out of immediate danger."
She sings thoughtfully for a moment, and then gets up and gets her writing things to start jotting notes for Vir.
Slavina
Slavina nudges the box of writing tools towards Aaren. They're already out and the ink's even fresh! In several colors!
Aaren
Aaren sits back down, almost glares at Slavina for not putting them away, but realizes they've been out because Slavina was just using them and only went out to fetch people. She smiles instead, singing her approval, and starts on her note.
"I'm describing Aurika's circumstances for him." Aaren explains, for Daina. "My main medical concern is removing Aurika from her community so soon after she's been totured. It would really be best for her to be with people and systems she's comfortable with. But if Vir knows what's what he can figure it out."
Daina
Daina nods her head to the agreement and smiles faintly. "Shall I have the smaller cart come find us later? In case we have a need of it?"
She hums her amusement at the exchange of look and sound in regards to the inks and then listens to Aaren's explanation of her note.
"sounds good to me... Yeah it'd be nice if she could go home but let's be real... we'd be sending her to her death... or worse" she murmurs as she shakes her head slightly as though to clear it.
Sighing faintly "I'm glad we've got a plan started at least, I was sort of worried for a while to be honest" she admits with a sheepish look to the others.
Aaren
Aaren puts down her things to give Daina a hug. "Sensible." She sings. "I'm glad you thought of it."
Daina
Daina returns the hug and chuckles "Oi look I can be sensible" she says as if discovering something.
Aaren
Aaren sings her pleased laughter song, pecks Daina on the forehead, and returns to her letter.
Slavina
Slavina shrinks a little under the withering lack of glare. But only a little. She takes a breath and knocks back the rest of her drink, then picks up the pen she'd been using and the deep blue ink that forms the main text. Slavina holds the pen poised over the inkwell. She beckons to the shadow under the blanket. Frankie slides out of it and resumes his position by her ear, where he's been most of the evening.
"Yes. It's a good option for her. I'm glad you thought of it."
Daina
Daina doesn't draw attention to the shrinking Slavina but does take note.
She brightens when Frankie is summoned and comes out readily "'eyyyy who's a good shadow wolf" she jokes lightly, only to get a dead pan expression and delivery of. "I am.. I am a very good shadow wolf." said by rote. She still nods though and replies "yes you are!" She murmurs as she blows over her tea.
"you guys up to anything new today or same stuff?" she questions curiously as she sips her drink.
Aaren
Aaren brightens again, and sings as she writes. "I finally figured out how to make those blasted pin-feathers get through my skin!"
A moment later she demonstrates, closing her eyes and peeling back her inner pancho. The skin on her arm buldges a moment, and then thin, almost sheer white needles begin poking out of her pores.
Slavina
Slavina dips her pen and carefully scrapes off the excess ink. "That's... unsettling," she says, dry and deadpan.
Daina
Daina makes a faint interested sound and then grimaces at the look of the feathers poking through. "oh man" she winces "doesn't that hurt?" she squirms and shudders a moment before stilling and mimicing Slavina's tone. "Yes.. very unsettling" she then smiles a bit. "pretty cool though.. you're going to do all the right feathers right? cause there's more than just the flight ones" she points out. Shifting one arm to a wing and pointing out the most important feathers. So helpful.
Aaren
"Itches." Aaren sings. she shakes her pancho back down and starts to reabosrb them. "And yes, I will do all the feathers. But I'm a long way from there, I'm afraid. Next hurdle is creating a muscle tissue that is significantly stronger and lighter then my current one."
Slavina
"Not bones?" Slavina asks. She doesn't know a whole lot about the differences in muscle, but chicken bones are definitely weird and light.
Daina
Daina nods her understanding and flicks her arm and it returns to her own. She also arches her brows in question in regard to the bone.
Aaren
"I can do bird bones no problem." She sings, going back to writing. "But I can't make ones that will work for me until I know how strong they need to be for the muscles to stay rooted when they're clenching."
Slavina
Slavina hums an acknowledgement to Aaren's anatomic information. She adds, in a quiet undertone clearly not meant for the general conversation, "Frankie, please begin at 'we were age mates, and often-' and continue at one-fifth tempo." As he starts murmuring in her ear she begins writing down what is said in a beautiful (but painfully slow) cursive.
Daina
Daina glances over to the work and sips at her drink as she glances to Aaren. "So I was wondering what you think about the Canny Cannabis?"
Aaren
"Slavina and I talked about it." Aaren sings. "I appreicate you making it. The lack of," Aaren sings the calm, detached feeling of being high, 'is useful." She listens to Daina's song for a moment. "Since Slavina is dedicated to her own emotional recovery, I think it is helpful for her. I wouldn't want you free feeding it to Aurika for her anxiety though."
Daina
Daina hmms and tilts her head a little. "Yeah I don't think I would but like for pain I probably would share it. Cramps and all that fun stuff" she notes as she sips her drink. "I don't know why I didn't think of it before now"
Aaren
Aaren sings a shrug. "Probably because we haven't needed it before now. Most people don't mind feeling calm and happy and relaxed with their pain reduction."
Daina
Daina smiles some "I think it still calms a bit and relaxes .. but like no way you're getting audio hallucinations or like seeing shadows and stuff." These things really only happen for Daina when she's -lit-.
Aaren
Aaren sings her 'wave it off' song, "Yes, but, you know the," and she sings the loosening bit, "the that bit. Anyway," she contines after a moment, "The point is, thank you, good job. Please don't free feed it to people without checking with me first."
Slavina
Slavina shakes her head. "No, none of that." Although of course Aaren can hear what it's doing anyways. "And yes, thank you Daina." She pauses to do a few particularly confusing combinations of letters. "It does help, especially with getting to sleep."
That page finished. She whispers to Frankie, "Halt." Blotting powder. Move the done page to the (rather tall) done pile. Prepare a new sheet. "Continue."
Daina
Daina wrinkles her nose a little. "I mean dude.. I'm not going to go giving it to all and sundry but it seems a bit .. much.. to check it with you every time... it's something people usually intake on their own anyway, I just made it better for some stuff.. "
Aaren
"Hmm." Aaren hums. She taps her pen on her lips, and then pours tea and takes a cup. She sings an assent song, making it clear she understands Daina's concern, and then looks up. "This is a pain killer that has very few noticible side effects. Pain killers are dangerous. They allow people to ignore wounds. Regular cannabis creates conditions which are hard to keep up indefiently: families notice when patients are always high."
Aaren takes a sip of tea, her thoughtful song contuing, and taking on undertones of a casual discussion song.
"If people who are injured have free access to it, they may ignore their wounds because they do not hurt anymore. Can you see why I am worried?"
Slavina
"Oh." Slavina looks up for a half-second. "Does it do that? I thought it just..." she trails off, unsure what exactly she thought.
Fate
It's an easy thing to hear Esta before her presence enters the cart—she currently bears easily half of Kelly's noises, as well as that lavish amber necklace she managed to win in the port town. There's also something very distinctive about her paces, the rhythm of her footsteps. (Something perhaps a little off? That's not quite right either.) But less so now than before.
She's also dripping wet. The droplets patter on the forest floor as she approaches.
She knocks on the cart before stepping in. "Hullo," she offers, in English. The whole cart dips and groans with her weight.
Over her shoulder is a tench the length of her armspan. (So pretty standard size.) "Hope carp you like." She pauses, thinking twice. "You like carp?" she corrects, slowly, uncertain.
Aaren
Aaren smiles, waving, and singing a welcoming song with three voices, before weaving it back into the discussion song. "We do like carp!"
Slavina
Slavina whispers "halt," and sets down her pen while she gets herself a cup of tea with the leftover boiling water. She adds a generous dollop of honey. "I don't like carp... they have very big mouths and sharp teeth." She pauses to let the joke settle in, with enough of a smile and teasing tone to make it obvious this is a joke and not a correction. "I do like to eat carp."
Fate
Esta moves into a spot that's closer to the middle of the cart, nearly overbalancing at one point. Instead, she ends up half-dropping the fish (managing to catch it by its tail but not before it hits the floor), and instead settles on dragging it.
Judging by the large gaping gash down the length of its belly, it appears to have been cleaned.
Once it's in a satisfactory position, Esta sets it down, wipes her hands on her dress, and pulls out her knife, settling in to saw a piece away from it.
Slavina
Since she's in the kitchen-area anyway, Slavina plucks a large bowl-shaped leaf off the plattervine and sets it next to Esta on her way back to her spot in the corner.
Daina
Daina gives a wave to Esta "sure, so long as I don't have to catch it" she grimaces faintly and then pauses. "Unless I'm in wolf form and catch it.. that's different.." she hmms as she considers Aaren's point and then shakes her head. "I do see what you're worried about but honestly it doesn't make most people -high- in that same way.. it's very low key if it even does make them high.. also if you've got an open wound or something.. I don't think people are going ignore that just cause it doesn't hurt so much." She pauses a moment "And besides that it's not as if they won't become tolerant of any magical effects and such after taking it for a rather reasonable ammount of time, especially if they use it daily
Fate
Esta pauses in her sawing to listen, waits a few seconds, and then continues. In short order she has a piece of fish. Wordlessly she waves it around the circle, offering it to anyone. (She seems not to have noticed the leaf.)
Aaren
"I'm not worried about bleeding. I'm worried about people like Aurika, who are extreamly injured with exactly the sort of injury your new plant works best on." Aaren ignores Daina's revleation that people become tolernet to the effect, because she considers it irrelevent. "She, or Slavina if she was less aware, could take it every day and not realize they were using emotions that were impared by injury."
Aaren pauses to take the fish, smile at Esta with a thank you song, and then stick her peice by the fire where it can cook.
Aaren then continues her discussion with Daina. "They would quite likely find themselves unable to trust or form new connections without the drug. And since drugs are, in this case, significantly easier then actual healing, they would continue to be dependet upon it for their well-being."
Daina
Daina hums "so you're thinking more so about the feeling of wellbeing and how that might let them ignore the hard issues they gotta deal with.. " she considers that a few moments.
Fate
Esta clucks her tongue and gives an exaggerated sigh to Aaren, shakes her head dramatically, and cuts off another piece.
Slavina
Slavina murmurs for Frankie to continue, and the soft scratching of pen on vellum resumes. "I have been taking it daily." Slavina says, softly. "Just only in the evenings...." She leans to the side to get a better angle on her letters and squints a little at the vellum.
"I'll have some in a minute, Esta. Could you set mine on the leaf?" She asks.
Fate
It takes a few seconds for Esta before she turns to say, "The—" But of course that's when she sees the leaf in question. "Oh!" She holds it up and waves it, then points to Slavina with it. "Yes."
Slavina
"Thank you."
Daina
Daina's thoughtful frown and hum of her thinking song are interrupted as she accepts the fish with a smile and a thanks. Using 'heat' to just cook it in her hand before she bites it. "So how's this then.. if they seem troubled at all I'll refer them to you but other wise just help people, it's no worse than alcohol.. maybe even better."
Aaren
Aaren waits for a bit while Daina considers. When Esta scolds her, Aaren sings a teasing guilt song (remembering belatedly to put it on her face) and takes a raw peice and eats it in two gulps. Then she looks to Esta for approval.
Aaren turns her song to thinking as she considers Daina's proposal.
"That's fine. Give it to anyone. Just don't give it to them twice. If they want to be happy, they can have normal cannabis. Why should they want cannabis that doesn't make them fly?"
Daina
Daina points out "Because it helps with pain.. so they want to be kinda clear headed and not hurting as well?" One eye squinting up as she chomps on another bite. She's confused since she gave weed to people all the time and it was even the stuff that made you loopy ,she tried to make it safe and Aaren was having a control freak-out.
Fate
Esta grins as Aaren makes up for her mistake. "That is how to eat fish!" Once laden, she hands the platter to Slavina. After it's clear that everyone else has a piece, Esta finally begins cutting one off for herself.
Slavina
Slavina finishes up the page and halts Frankie again. Once she's put up the paper and properly cleaned the pen and capped the bottle of ink and all the other tiny little things you have to do when stopping writing, she picks up the platter of fish.
"Wow, this is a lot." Slavina looks at the pile of fish strips. She plucks one off and then extends the plate to Esta. "Esta, will you share with me? I can't finish it all myself."
Fate
Upon being addressed, Esta twists to face Slavina. After another slightly-longer-than-comfortable pause, she teases, "I thought you eat carp," and grabs a piece off the platter as bid.
Aaren
Aaren sings a thoughtful song. "Ah." She sings, after a moment. "The advantage of them not being clear-headed is that they are then identifiable. Their communities can assist in monitoring their use and help them in mangaging their dependency and their healing. If they are clear headed, it causes them no inconveince. It is the perfect tool until they are unable to access it."
Aaren pauses, letting her songs dip and then swell as she reaches the key point. "At which point, they have all the pain again, and all the complications from using their injured limb without restraint. I do not think it is good for people to be able to ignore their pain all the time."
Aaren pauses again, a more thoughtful pause this time. "Does that make sense? If people have pain they need to manage, they should figure out the problem before they manage it by ignoring it. I am worried they will use the medecine to ignore their injuries, injuries they cannot see so they are easy to ignore."
Aaren continues. "Take Kelly." She takes another slice of raw fish.
"Right now he is very anxious around people. This is because his sense of trust has been injured. People who had no reason to harm him did damage to him that he cannot comprehend, for reasons he cannot comprehend."
Aaren's face and voice stay soft, her song staying in calm discussion mode—with just one undervoice turning to sorrow. "As with any part of him, this injury effects all of him. If he takes the new medicine, he will no longer be afraid of people. He will walk on his injured sense of trust without caution. Like walking on a broken leg when you cannot feel pain—the injury only gets worse, but no one notices until the pain comes back."
Slavina
Slavina makes a face. "Yes, I eat carp... but not the whole carp at once!" She takes a bite of the raw fish and chews it thoughtfully. Then she fetches a bottle of pepper-paste from the storage cubby and pours out a little dish of it for dipping, which she sets in the middle of the people circle. She dips her fish in it and takes another bite.
Daina
Daina points out "well also I'm not saying this is for all pain .. I'm thinking of stuff that won't go away ... like cramps or old injuries that cannot be fully healed. That type stuff... for the elderly who have sore bones but still need to move around and what have you." She hums faintly. "As for not being able to get it, that really shouldn't be a problem for most people.. it's a popular drug.. and they can grow the strain I've made from the seeds" sage nod.
Fate
After translating Slavina's response, Esta opens her mouth to retort, eyes the fish lying on the ground, and tilts her head in concession.
"Big feckin' carps here," she concedes.
Then brings her own fish strips up. For the moment, she eyes them, her lighthearted manner quietly gone.
Daina
Daina snort laughs at the 'feckin'
Aaren
"Yes, "Aaren sings to Daina, her songs growing more serious as the discussion goes on. "It will be excellent for chronic conditions like you describe."
She pauses again. Then she sings, "Do you think people understand the difference between making pain go away by using this new medeicine, and having their injuries healed? People we haven't explained it too."
Slavina
I can has empathy ping on Esta? In particular what it was that made her go all somber
Daina
Daina hmms softly "Maybe not but.. if we tell them specifically and make a song and dance of it, insist they pass that along with each person they share the treatment with...." mind control insurance of proper instruction
Slavina
Slavina holds up the bowl of pepper-paste to Esta. "Here. It'll taste different if you dip it." She whispers conspiritorily, "Besides, you have to show the fishes who's boss right?"
Fate
Esta stares at Slavina, intent but distracted, as she translates. Then she offers a slightly too-loud bark of a laugh and says, "In this world? The fishes are boss."
Still, she scrutinizes the bowl, then dips her fish. Lightly. (She's had... experiences with this pepper paste before.)
Then, before she can change her mind, she bites into the flesh, chews, and swallows. Her eyes tear up a little from the sting of the flavoring.
Aaren
Aaren takes her cooked fish off the fire and dips it, pops it in her mouth. "That's a good idea, but let's put it aside for the moment, if you don't mind?"
Aaren's song transitions, to be more Vir like, more Ash like, and her mood lightens some in response. "Do you agree it is a problem that people who might be using the medicine might not understand the differeince between making pain go away and having the injuries healed?"
Slavina
Slavina laughs a little, covering her mouth with her hand. "That's how to eat fish!" She takes another strip and dips it before chomping it. "Do you want some flatbread to go with your carp? Ilvers gave me some this afternoon, it's still fresh."
Daina
Daina makes a so so motion "I think you're not giving people enough credit.. sure some people could have a problem getting it but.. most people aren't stupid.."
Aaren
Aaren's song perks up, excited to have made a discovery about how they are different. "Alright, excellent! Can you explain why you think that most people will be able to judge correctly about pain and injury on their own? Without having your song to explain, I mean." Her song makes it clear that she's curious—trying to better understand Daina's experince and views in contrast to her own.
Daina
Daina sighs faintly "Mostly cause we have various pain relief tools and stuff and people have been getting injured since always... they've figured it out fairly well so far, not perfectly but that's not possible."
Slavina
Slavina digs out the rounds of flatbread and tears of a solid chunk for Esta, then holds them out to the other women in case Daina or Aaren wants some.
Daina
Daina looks over and accepts the offered bread, this being warmed a bit too and wrapped around what's left of her fish. She takes a big bite, belatedly humming her thank you song.
Fate
Esta wordlessly accepts the bread, using it as a balm for her burning tongue. Then she makes a face. "Who cooked this?"
Aaren
Aaren takes some, and turns to Slavina, and then waits, since she wants to ask Slavina and Esta their opnions.
Slavina
"Ksaveras, I think." Slavina takes some for herself. "I see you like it so much you want to ask him for more." She quirks up an eyebrow a tad, then returns Aaren's gaze, waiting for the question.
Aaren
"I want ya'll's opinion on this." Aaren sings.
Slavina
"On... on using drugs for pain relief?" Slavina looks back and forth between Aaren and Daina, slightly worried at being asked (by the experts!) for her (definitely not expert!) opinion.
Aaren
"On whether people can tell the difference between pain relief and the healing of an injury without being instructed, and will use pain releif medication approprietly as a result." Aaren smiles, and sings a soothing, curious song.
Fate
Before Esta can offer a retort, the conversation has opened up and turned direction. She takes a few moments to catch up (quietly placing the rest of her bread on the platter), her brow furrowed, then says, "I don't understand."
Slavina
Slavina buys herself some thinking time by taking another bite of bread. And chewing it. Very. Sloooooowly. "I think...." she tucks her knees in and rests her forearms on them. "...some people will, and some won't. Or the same person will and won't depending on their circumstance. A few years ago I was all about smothering my pain and never even thought of fixing it."
She thinks a little more, and says, "Probably most people can tell the difference, but it doesn't matter because really healing seems so impossibly difficult that they aren't ready to do it. Or they don't have the... the resources to do it. When they're ready - if they ever are - they'll stop on their own. Until then they'll find a way to deal with it, whether that's this or something else."
She goes back to staring at her bread.
Aaren
Aaren nods, singing thank you seriously. Then she turns to Daina, "Can you translate to Esta for me? I don't know how to explain better."
Daina
Daina gives a nod and translates ."Do you think people will ignore being hurt and maybe get hurt worse if they have the weed I smoke to use for pain relief, it's the same weed.. but I made it so it doesn't give visions or things like that. It makes you feel calm and reduces or eliminates pain for a while.
Fate
Esta draws back a little, perplexed at the nature of the question, but then eases. 'Sure?' she says in her language. 'Some people are bleedin' idiots, aren't they? They won't last long, though. And we'll know who the smart ones are, won't we?'
Slavina
Slavina translates this for Aaren, idiomatically.
Aaren
Aaren works hard to surpress her smile as her secret thoughts are spoken aloud. She coughs to clear it, and resumes her trembling Vir song.
Daina
Daina bites her lips and then laughs "Oh.. oh gods Esta" she giggles and covers her mouth.
Aaren
Aaren turns back to Daina, "Daina, I can't tell you what to do with your new medecine. I only have the authority to make decisions about the treatment of the people in my charge. And this isn't such a big deal that I'm going to try and fight you over it. Obviously Slavina and Esta agree that some people will get in trouble with them and some people won't. My experince is that most people will make their pain go away and then hurt themselves unless explicitly instructed not to, but that doesn't mean I'm right." (There is no visible tremor over this admittance. Her song remains steady.)
Aaren takes more fish, more to punctate her talking then for real desire to eat. "I think its a bad idea to share the seeds, and I ask you to please not give it to people under my care without my permission. If you want my help making a song to instruct people about it, I would be glad to help—but I don't think it will actually address the issue for more then a handful of people."
Her songs grow serious again. "To be clear, I think that spreading these seeds will hurt a lot of people." Then her tone lightens. "But I can understand why you disagree with me, okay?"
Fate
Esta looks around and nearly offers a retort, but then Aaren speaks again. She abandons her reply in favor of concentrating, then, once it's clear that she's missing far too much context to follow, in favor of eating another bite of pepper-paste-flavored fish.
Slavina
Slavina starts translating for Esta, but realizes she'd have to translate the whole conversation. So instead she says in Esta's language, "Daina wants to give everyone the drug-plant she made. Aaren doesn't want her to for moral reasons. They're arguing about it." She shrugs a little.
Daina
Daina sobers and listens and gives a nod " I hear ya... " nods again. "Fair enough" she agrees to the part about people under Aaren's care, though usually they get pain treatment as far as Daina is aware. "I'll give more thought to the seed thing, but no promises"
Aaren
"Thank you." Aaren sings. And then she smiles. "Thank you very much." Her song turns back to happy, thoughtful notes, and she returns to her letter to Vir.
Daina
Daina gives a thumbs up eats the last of her fish and bread. Looking to Slavina and Esta she smiles. "Thanks for all the fish".. "and bread" She takes the joint from behind her ear. "I'll be on the porch if ya need me."
